Golf match play rules that shape the bracket
- Match play counts holes won, not total strokes: the player who wins more holes wins the match.
- A tied match goes to extra holes until a hole is won.
- The qualifier is stroke play; the lowest scores get the top seeds, so seed 1 plays the lowest qualifier.

Which format to use
Qualify 16 or 32 players; flights for the rest, each its own bracket.
A round of 18 holes takes about four and a half hours, so each round is a day or an evening of weekends.
Give every flight a fixed deadline for each round and let players schedule their own match before it.
